Editorial and Corrections Policy
Editorial and Corrections Policy
Fit Creeper is an independent site covering football, rugby and athlete fitness. This page sets out how articles here are written, sourced and corrected.
Sourcing
Every factual claim should be traceable. In practice that means:
- Primary sources first. Official competition sites, governing bodies, court records, police statements and published research, ahead of secondary reporting.
- Statistics are attributed to their provider. Opta, FotMob, Squawka and others measure differently and produce different numbers for the same match. We name which one we used.
- Quotes are attributed to the person who said them, and where they said them. If a quote comes from a press conference, a social post or a broadcast, that is stated.
- Links are live and direct. If a claim is sourced, the source is clickable.
Uncertainty
Where reputable sources conflict, we show the conflict rather than picking one silently. Where a widely repeated claim cannot be verified, we say so and do not publish it as fact. A single-source detail is labelled as single-source.
We would rather publish "this is disputed, and here is why" than a clean sentence that is wrong.
Original reporting
Fit Creeper does not have reporters at events. We do not claim otherwise. Where an article builds on work by the BBC, Sky Sports, ESPN, the Associated Press, PA Media, Opta or any other outlet, that outlet is named and linked. What we add is context, verification, comparison and analysis — not a rewritten version of somebody else's report.
AI use
Research tools may be used to gather and cross-check sources. No article is published without a human checking the claims against the linked sources. Responsibility for what appears here rests with the named author, not with a tool.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it in the article itself and say what changed. We do not delete errors quietly.
- Factual errors are corrected in place, with a dated correction note at the top or bottom of the article explaining what was wrong.
- Significant errors — a wrong result, a misattributed quote, a wrong charge — keep their correction note permanently.
- Typos and formatting are fixed without a note.
- Updated articles carry an "Updated" date alongside the original publication date.
Requesting a correction
Email us through the contact page with the article URL, the specific claim you believe is wrong, and a source if you have one. We aim to respond within seven days. If you are right, we will fix it and say so.
Independence
Fit Creeper is not affiliated with any club, league, federation, broadcaster or governing body. If an article ever involves a paid or affiliate relationship, that will be disclosed in the article itself.
